What kind of setup is required for a portable dehumidifier?

Why has the listed pint capacity of the dehumidifier changed?

You might have noticed two different listed pint capacities for your dehumidifier. This is because dehumidifiers are now tested under new conditions that result in a reduction of their capacity rating. Due to these new Department of Energy (DOE) testing methods, a dehumidifier’s 2019 DOE capacity rating will be lower than its 2012 DOE capacity rating. However, no changes have been made to the units themselves, only to the method of testing. The actual room dehumidifier performance has not changed.

What kind of maintenance is required for a portable air dehumidifier?

It is recommended to clean the filter every two weeks. You can wash it with water, but it is important to allow the filter to dry before replacing it in the unit. You can also use a vacuum to clean the filter. When you are finished with the air dehumidifier for the season, be sure to empty any water that has been collected in the water bin. Disconnect the hose if you used one, and make sure you replace the drain cap and rubber stopper back into the drain outlet. Make sure you store the unit in a cool place away from sunlight.

Review of Customer Service: Honeywell Dehumidifier TPFIT50WKN 50

First of all the unit Honeywell Dehumidifier TPFIT50WKN 50 seems to be excellent as a dehumidifier...the problem is that the unit is not shutting off when it reaches the desired humidity level...switching out the sensor did not relieve the problem...so there has been added electrical usage costs for 2 1/2 months...this is not a good situation for us...the unit is being replaced and we are hopeful that the replacement will be in better working condition.
That said...I have to say that the customer service has been beyond excellent and I believe this is totally attributable to Janice [jmatek] who has provided impeccable customer service...she is responsible, attentive, helpful, patient, respectful...everything a customer could hope for and not something that I feel is in general forthcoming these days. I feel like I got LUCKY with having Janice as my Customer Service Representative...one time when I couldn't reach Janice...Michelle Lopez took care of me and her service was also excellent. All of the reps that answered the phone were responsive, courteous, and helpful!
Janice responded to my request for a quick replacement of the unit...which is now in progress and I am hopeful the new unit will be excellent. I know if there is an issue Janice will do everything she can to resolve whatever may need to be resolved!
Please do not let her go...whatever you do!

Perfect right out of the box. Supplied drain hose useful.

Delivered in 3 days, well packed for shipping, was in perfect condition, ran fine right out of the box. It runs hotter than our previous dehumidifier. we use it in a walkout basement on a hillside which has a finished side and a below grade mechanical side. The finished side stays cool and dry without air conditioning, but is a bit warmer with the Honeywell dehumidifier set at 50% than our previous unit. The gravity drain hose that comes with it is cheap plastic, short, and stiff, but works fine. the diameter is smaller than the unnecessarily large size garden hose required for most other units. Would have preferred a longer and more flexible hose. The humidity display on the front of the unit is a nice feature because you can read it across the room instead of walking over to read the display on the top of the unit.

Solid Overall

Four star unit. Simple to assemble and set up. Working well at this point. Taking away one star for the continuous drain hose. It is flimsy, too short, and too stiff. I'll be replacing it with a length of garden hose.

Excellent service

My original Honeywell dehumidifier stopped working (coil freezing)this Spring after not being used all Winter.
Honeywell customer service was extremely helpful and professional in assisting with the replacement unit. I would highly recommend a Honeywell dehumidifier.
